SPORTS BUSINESS ADVANTAGE
When John Gaughan started LVDC in 1988, some of
the very first employees were recruited from Las Vegas
Race and Sports Books. Currently, about 40% of the
operations team has experience from behind the counter.
This group includes former sports book executive
Vinny Magliulo. For 14 years Vinny
was Sports Book Director at Caesars Palace and later
opened the Race and Sports Book at Wynn Resort. Vinny is
also a co-host of My Guys in the Desert with Brent Musburger
on the VSiN Network. Over the years Vinny has offered
consulting and assisted in many projects by
sharing his knowledge gained from experience.
The LVDC Sports Book operation began in 2014 when John Gaughan
purchased an interest in Hotel Nevada in Ely, NV. John requested
from the NGCB and was granted a license to operate a sports book
and the first live sports book opened in Ely, NV.
Foreseeing the legalization of sports betting nationally, John
and Jay formed National Sports Book Management, Ltd. for the
purpose of bringing our message of offering a fair and
honest solution for companies outside of Nevada to add sports
wagering to their properties. Over the past three years we
personally visited potential properties and invited many to
our office and the South Point to meet face-to-face to discuss
our philosophy to better understand the wants and needs of
potential clients.
Longer than any other company, since 1992 LVDC has and continues
to support Tribal Gaming Race Books with hardware and software
maintenance along with full service accounting support. Prior to
opening, LVDC offers full training for ticket writers and book
personnel along with accounting training at our Las Vegas office.
Our technical, IT and software team has experience setting up
operations throughout the country and world and can handle any
size project. After the equipment is installed, onsite training
takes place and support is there through the opening.
Even with all the talented people at LVDC, John wanted to take
it a step higher to offer the absolute best sports betting product.
Who better to turn to than his father, Michael Gaughan. Michael
is a sports book pioneer and one of the most successful operators
in the history of Las Vegas. For over 40 years, sports books were
an integral part of all the Gaughan properties and that continues
today with best book in Las Vegas at the South Point Casino.
The LVDC-South Point venture is now servicing the sports books at
Buffalo Thunder Resort Casino in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the first
sports book on the west coast at Chinook Winds Casino Resort in
Lincoln City, Oregon, and Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque,
New Mexico.
